CognitiMag – AI-Cognitive Coach for ADHD & ASD
1. Introduction: Why Cognitive Coaching Matters
The human brain is one of the most complex systems known to science, and yet millions of people live with conditions that directly impact their ability to manage attention, regulate emotions, and follow through on everyday tasks. Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are among the most prevalent neurodevelopmental conditions, affecting hundreds of millions globally.
Despite rising awareness, many existing solutions remain fragmented. Traditional “habit-tracking” apps oversimplify behavioral support into checklists and reminders. They rarely adapt to the real-time struggles of users or capture the nuanced executive-function deficits that make ADHD/ASD daily life uniquely challenging. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and executive-function coaching are proven helpful, but they are costly, limited in availability, and hard to scale to the millions who need them.
CognitiMag was created to close this gap.
We are building a next-generation AI-Cognitive Coach that transforms evidence-based cognitive science into an adaptive, always-available companion. Unlike static apps or generic wellness trackers, CognitiMag integrates real-time personalization, reinforcement learning, and digital cognitive endpoints to help users make progress in small, manageable steps.
The vision is bold yet simple:
Turn every smartphone into a pocket-sized cognitive coach that understands, adapts, and grows with each individual.
2. Core Innovation
At the heart of CognitiMag lies a signal-quality–aware (SQI) analytics engine and a personalized reinforcement learning loop that together deliver meaningful, measurable progress.
Adaptive Micro-Steps: Instead of overwhelming users with generic plans, the system creates personalized micro-steps in real time, breaking large goals into actionable, achievable moments.
Executive-Function Ontology: Our coach is designed around validated executive-function domains: working memory, planning, self-monitoring, inhibition, and flexibility. This ensures that the system supports not only task completion but also the underlying cognitive skills.
Privacy-Preserving Analytics: CognitiMag never handles personally identifiable health information (PHI). Instead, it works with behavioral proxies (e.g., task adherence, response latency, activity consistency) that allow scientific validation without sensitive data exposure.
Interpretable AI: The algorithms are transparent and explainable. Users and clinicians can see the reasoning behind each suggestion, ensuring trust and accountability.
This is not another productivity tool. It is a new class of digital cognitive support system, designed specifically for ADHD and ASD, with the potential to expand into related domains such as anxiety, sleep, and executive dysfunction in other conditions.
3. How CognitiMag Works
Baseline Assessment
Upon onboarding, CognitiMag guides users through a series of interactive tasks and questionnaires that establish a personalized profile. Instead of a generic “user setup,” this baseline captures key dimensions: attention span, task-switching patterns, circadian rhythm preferences, and motivational triggers.
Adaptive Coaching Loop
The AI suggests one or two micro-actions at a time (e.g., “write the first sentence of your email,” or “take a 2-minute stretch before starting homework”).
It monitors adherence and adjusts difficulty and timing dynamically.
Reinforcement learning ensures that successful strategies are reinforced, while ineffective ones are quickly replaced.
Digital Cognitive Endpoints
The system evaluates progress through behavioral proxies such as:
Consistency in task initiation.
Reduction of procrastination gaps.
Improvements in self-report measures of stress/load.
Sleep/activity alignment metrics when available.
Transparency & Feedback
Each recommendation comes with a “why” explanation. For example: “This suggestion is based on your higher success rate with short tasks after lunch”. Users remain in control and can fine-tune their preferences.
4. Technical Objectives
CognitiMag is built as a multi-layered innovation stack:
Objective A: Data Harmonization
Harmonize longitudinal behavioral datasets, align metadata, and compute signal-quality indicators. Challenge: device heterogeneity, missingness, and drift. Solution: canonical windows, robust filters, and bias diagnostics.
Objective B: Endpoint Engineering
Engineer and validate 2–3 endpoints specifically linked to women’s health and executive-function deficits (e.g., task initiation regularity, sleep-linked recovery, stress-load proxy).
Objective C: Reproducibility & Phase II Validation
Build a containerized pipeline, provide redacted samples, and release reproducibility reports that enable third-party verification. This ensures scientific rigor and positions us for Phase II clinical collaborations.
5. Challenges We Are Solving
High Variability Across Users: ADHD/ASD presentations are heterogeneous. CognitiMag’s adaptive learning is designed to tune itself per individual rather than rely on a one-size-fits-all model.
Data Noise & Artifacts: Real-world behavioral data is messy. Our SQI layer filters out unreliable signals to avoid spurious conclusions.
Label Scarcity: Clinical labels are hard to obtain. We rely on proxy metrics, cross-device generalization, and interpretable feature engineering to sidestep this challenge.
Trust & Adoption: Many users have tried multiple apps and lost faith. CognitiMag emphasizes transparency, explainability, and evidence, rebuilding trust one step at a time.
6. Market Opportunity
The demand for validated digital cognitive support is exploding.
ADHD affects ~5–7% of children and ~4% of adults worldwide, but diagnoses and interventions are under-served.
ASD prevalence is ~1 in 36 children in the U.S., with lifelong support needs.
Existing digital tools are poorly validated, creating an urgent unmet need for evidence-based, adaptive, privacy-preserving solutions.
Our beachhead market is B2B partnerships with research networks, payers, and self-insured employers who seek measurable endpoints for productivity, wellness, and mental health. Longer term, CognitiMag aims for direct-to-consumer deployment as a subscription-based adaptive coach.
The total addressable market (TAM) spans billions of dollars across ADHD/ASD support, digital health coaching, and clinical trial endpoints.
7. Competitive Advantage
CognitiMag’s differentiation comes from three pillars:
Device-Agnostic Analytics: Works across different wearables and smartphones, ensuring inclusivity.
Evidence First: Our system is validated through pre-registered evaluations, ensuring credibility.
Privacy-By-Design: No handling of sensitive PHI; instead, focus on robust proxies and open science.
While existing apps focus on checklists and reminders, CognitiMag is building the foundation for auditable digital endpoints that can be licensed and deployed in clinical, wellness, and research settings.
8. Team & Company
CognitiMag is being developed by MagnitumLabs, a U.S.-based startup specializing in privacy-preserving time-series analytics and digital endpoints.
Principal Investigator (PI): A technical founder with deep expertise in time-series machine learning and secure data engineering.
Advisors: Clinical psychologists, women’s health researchers, and cognitive science experts.
Mission: To democratize access to adaptive cognitive coaching while maintaining scientific rigor and ethical standards.

9. Vision: Beyond Phase I
Phase I focuses on engineering the adaptive engine, curating datasets, and releasing reproducibility artifacts.
Phase II will extend into clinical validation, commercialization pilots with research networks, and enterprise partnerships.
The long-term vision is to position CognitiMag as the global reference platform for digital cognitive endpoints in ADHD, ASD, and beyond.
